Orthopaedics and Traumatology
Orthopaedics and traumatology is a branch of science dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of all kinds of diseases occurring in the musculoskeletal system. It aims to correct body damages that occur after accidents and traumatic injuries due to various reasons, both by conventional methods and surgical interventions. Orthopaedics and traumatology branch, which diagnoses and treats all kinds of problems related to the shoulder, elbow, knee, hip and spine, is also a main branch responsible for both diagnosing and making the most appropriate treatments for congenital disabilities.
Orthopaedics and Traumatology is divided into some sub-branches:
Sports Surgery: Shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle injuries that occur after sports injuries are treated by Orthopaedic specialists. Meniscus tears in the knee, anterior, posterior cruciate ligament and internal, external meniscus tears, cartilage damage, cartilage transplants, recurrent shoulder dislocations, shoulder, knee, elbow and ankle pain are treated with closed and open operations. In our hospital, all kinds of joint open and closed surgeries are treated by our specialist orthopaedic physicians.
Arthroplasty Prosthesis surgeries applied to the joint in advanced calcifications that develop after cartilage wear in the joints are defined under the name of arthroplasty. In our hospital, joint-sparing surgical treatments (open and closed surgeries), joint fluid injection into the joints (knee, shoulder, ankle joint under outpatient clinic conditions, hip joint under USG guidance), stem cell injection are successfully applied in early stage cartilage wear. Prosthesis surgeries are performed for joint calcifications that develop after advanced cartilage wear. Especially hip, knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle prosthesis surgeries are successfully performed in our hospital. Prosthesis surgeries are also successfully performed for hip joint calcifications due to hip dislocation that develops after congenital hip dislocation. These prosthesis surgeries are also performed with Robotic Surgery methods in our hospital for the last year.
Trauma surgery: All kinds of joint and bone fractures and dislocations that develop after traumas such as accidents and falls, hip fractures seen in advanced ages are successfully treated by performing closed and open surgeries. The orthopaedics and traumatology team of our hospital successfully performs surgeries especially for elderly patients requiring intensive care, patients with multiple trauma with multiple bone fractures and patients with pelvic fractures requiring specialised surgery.
Paediatric orthopaedics: Congenital and subsequent orthopaedic disorders in children (such as congenital hip dislocation, serabral palsy surgeries, congenital clubfoot, child fractures) are successfully treated by our specialist physicians in our hospital.
Hand surgery: Operations requiring microsurgery such as vascular nerve and tendon incisions, congenital or acquired hand deformities, nerve compression (carpal tunnel syndrome), trigger finger, tendonitis, tendon transfer are successfully performed by our specialist physicians in our hospital.
Deformity surgery: Congenital or subsequent bone and joint deformity surgeries, height lengthening surgeries are successfully treated in our hospital.
Spine surgeries and bone and soft tissue tumour surgeries are successfully treated in our hospital.
Hand Surgery and micro surgery:
Microsurgery makes it possible to operate very small vessels and circuits with materials that are difficult to see with the naked eye. Thus, it is possible to reconnect organs such as severed hands, arms, feet and legs to the body and to repair very thin nerve fibres. Diagnosis and treatment of problems such as vascular, tendon and nerve cuts, skin and muscle tissue loss and amputations, tennis elbow, ganglion cysts are performed.
Spinal Surgery
It examines lumbar and neck hernias affecting the spine and spinal cord-nerves, spinal cord and nerve compression due to spinal canal stenosis, vertebral slippage, deformities, tumours, spinal cord vessel diseases.
